Notes:

  • Western Oji-Cree uses a quite divergent system of Syllabics. First, there is no difference between plain vowels (ᐁ) and y-series syllabics (ᔦ). In fact, the two series are mixed, so that the vowels /e/, /i/, and /o/ use the triangular symbols (ᐁ,ᐃ,ᐅ), while /a/ employs the y-shaped (ᔭ). However, if the long vowel raised-dot is marked, then the series is consistent with other Algonquian languages (ᐄ,ᐆ,ᐋ). Where the language pronounces /y/, the plain vowel is written: e.g. /piisaayohk/ ᐱᓴᐅᕀ. (Fiero 1976)
  • A couple of the finals are also different. Final /k/ is ᐩ (note that there can be no confusion with a final /y/ as there is no y-series), and final /p/ is ᐦ (/h/ is not written as such). If the writer prefers using ᐠ and ᑊ instead, these have been mapped to <g> and <b>.

In the previous notes, the hyphen is used to separate keystrokes.  So (k-a) is "k" followed by "a", not "k", "-", "a".
